The Amityville Horror was originally written by Jay Anson in 1977, and it later went to film in 1979. It is reportedly based on a true story of the Lutz Family, who lasted 28 days in their new Long Island home, claiming that it was haunted. Who's to say it wasn't, after six people were brutally murdered there previously? James Brolin and Margo Kidder star in the first of the series of films. If you don't at least enjoy Kidder prancing around in her undies, then you'll get a kick out of Brolin's portrayal of the psychotic husband (whose hair seems to mirror his mental state). Cheesy, yes, but still one of my favorites.
