Stephen Spielberg directed JAWS in 1975, and it was based upon the novel of the same name by Peter Benchley. This is a story about a great white shark that starts feeding off the shores of Amity Island one terrible summer. Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw shine together in the first film of the series.
JAWS is the first movie I remember seeing in a theater. I believe I was four years old. This movie sparked an obsession with shark attacks the I still harbor. I had to watch the gore through my fingers, so my mom thought I had my eyes covered. That lead to all four JAWS movies and, of course, Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.
